6 Week Body Makeover - Lean Muscle Tissue

The key to losing weight on the 6 Week Body Makeover is to gain lean muscle mass.  Many people do not know it, but having muscle is the best way for you to lose weight.  A lot of people think that muscle relates to looking bulky and un-proportional.  However, this is not the case when using the Michael Thurmond program.  On this program, you will learn how to sculpt your problem areas so that every part of your body aids in the burning of calories. 

The reason why many people do not lose weight is because they do not have enough lean muscle in all areas of their body to burn off enough calories throughout the day to lose fat.  You might have strong arms or strong legs, but lack muscle in other areas of your body.  For me,  I have big, muscular arms and strong legs, however, my mid-section and chest need a lot of work and I need to sculpt these areas to be toned so that they can provide additional "fat-burning" power. 

Most people who use the body makeover program do not have adequate muscle mass.  This is due to years of dieting and starving themselves.  People on diets tend to see weight loss results but end up gaining all the weight that the dropped after leaving the program.  Remember, there’s a difference between weight loss and fat loss.  Everyone’s goal is to lose fat; however, many diets make you drop weight through muscle loss, not fat.  When you diet, you end up starving yourself.  Your metabolism is trained to convert calories into energy so that your organs and muscle can function properly.  When you do not get enough adequate calories in the day, your body initiates catabolism.  Catabolism is where your body breaks down lean muscle tissue and converts your body’s tissue into energy.  This only occurs when you’re not getting enough “good” calories throughout the day. 

This is the reason why many people lose weight in the beginning of their diets and end up feeling weak and irritable and the end of their diet.  Eventually, once you cannot stand your diet any longer, you will gain all the weight back and will have to re-build all of the lean muscle tissue that you lost.

A better way to lose weight is to focus on light aerobics and a light lifting routine.  Lifting light weights and low repetitions is a great way to get lean muscle tissue without bulking up.  The more muscle mass you have, the more calories your body will burn without you even having to do anything.  Also, another benefit of being physically fit is that you will be able to eat more.  Your body will demand more food as starts immediately burning off the calories that you consumed.  Essentially, your metabolism will turn into a bonfire and you can keep throwing fuel on the fire as long as you are active.
